As part of our on-going activation and commitment to the BS8901 management system, Smyle showed its support for the community on Friday 27th January, by sending 8 staff volunteers to renovate an unused annex at Bovingdon Scout Hut, near Hemel Hempstead in Herts. The day was organised with Get CSR Connected, a self-sustained organisation which brings together private and non-profit sector organisations.
The team had their work cut out to transform the drab store room into a bright clean open space for use by the Beavers, Cubs and local toddler group. Repainting, installing window frames, sills &skirting boards and a general make-over for the room was the plan, getting it fit for purpose. "It was no easy task, but everyone really enjoyed it and took great pride in getting the job done on time" said Dave Glass, Smyle's Head of Media who led the squad. "The parents of the scout group kept us going with home-made cakes and sandwiches and brought along the kids after school to show them the transformation".
This was Smyle's first team charity day, and is now set to become an annual event.
