'The final edit looked excellent and the multi-screen effect worked very well.'

reason / objective

Smyle was commissioned to create an Intro video sting to welcome clients from EMEA to the annual conference. The sting was to introduce the delegates to Paris and also to the conference in a modern, fresh, upbeat and original way. To tie in with the companies current advertising campaign the five giant widescreen screens at the conference showed three separate videos simultaneously to create a mulit-view look at all elements of the video.

concept / solution

The Smyle film team spent four days on location in Paris filming during the day and night at the majority of Paris’ landmarks. The team used two HDV cameras and a steadicam rig to capture the shots they needed. The filming schedual was tight because all locations were filmed from three or four different angles to enable the multi-screen idea to work.

Smyle camera operator Grant Wakefield shot a timelapse from a boat going under the bridges of Paris on a digital slr camera and this was rendered in Adobe After Effects to create the final sequence.
Graphics and titles were created by the editing team whilst in Paris and when the team came back to the UK three dancers came into Smyles Chroma Key studio and performed to be keyed over the backdrops of Paris.
The editor created three seperate sequences to enable us to show the three different angles and the transitions were frame perfect
The final tapes were played from three VT machines linked by timecode.
The video was combined with live models and dancers on stage to enhance the opening.
