reason / objective
Produce a night to remember for the joint celebration of two brothers 21st birthdays in the grounds of their family estate. The two birthday boys asked Smyle to create a 1970’s roller disco...!
concept / solution Guests were sent 7” vinyl records with bespoke covers made as invitations to really set the scene for the event from the outset. Smyle managed the guest RSVPs and collated the guest list for the client. For the event itself a 30m x 20m ‘A’ frame structure was installed into the front lawn of the family home. A third of this structure was then turned into the roller disco! Smyle brought in the experts from the Roller Disco in London’s Vauxhall to provide advice on the construction of the roller rink and to provide over 200 roller skates – these were then housed in a bespoke built ‘Boot Rack’.
For those guests that perhaps didn’t want roller skate an additional 6m x 6m LED funky dance floor was provided with over 40 mirrorballs of different sizes flown above at different heights.
Seating booths were created in clusters around the sides of the marquee and the look was completed with a central circular revolving bar which illuminated from the inside!
The night was completed with cocktails and delicious heavy canapés provided by caterers Last Supper, a DJ playing funk, soul and disco tunes and cabaret artist Stevie Starr providing a mind boggling finale act. |
